Cogitation

Reading your posts about contemplation on a rainy morning inspired me to take this picture from our front porch. The way the clouds veil the mountain reminds me of paintings and poetry by Chinese and Japanese artists interested in contemplation as a way of life. I'm not sure, but I imagine they were drawn by the partial limitation of what they could see to a rethinking or re-imagining of how they saw and how how they saw determined what they saw.

Then my thoughts turned to Dad, who loved to declare that he was going to cogitate. He liked the word, and he like figuring things out.
